June 24...the big day!

It's true! Andrew and I were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 24, 2006. Although things did not necessarily go exactly as planned, everything did end up very well. The day went smoothly as it began with a brunch at the Lion House and then on to the temple for the actual marriage. Then we had pictures and a dinner up at Zion Summit followed by the reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. It was a beautiful event and although I was very oblivious to almost everything the whole day :) it was perfect. I have yet to see the photographers pictures but there are many friends and family members who have already shared many pictures with us of our special day.

Anyway, we've just returned from the Riviera Maya near Cancun, Mexico. We spent 5 days at a resort called El Dorado Royale. It was absolutely magnificent and more than we could have ever imagined. We loved the beach, the sun, the pools, virgin margaritas and daiquiris :), and of course the 5 course meals. It took us ordering once to realize it wasn't "normal" food but actually gourmet, delicious meals. The best part was that it was an all inclusive resort so food and drinks were all you can eat...just about (I mean there are limits to how much you can eat!:)).

We went to Tori and Brandon Bateman's wedding yesterday and it was beautiful. They are off to Cabo San Lucas for their honeymoon....

Now it's relaxing for a few days and off to Atlanta for the Georgia reception. It should be great!

One Month and Counting

Andrew and I are down to the final month of our engagement. All the plans have been made, the invitations sent, and now we are just enjoying bridal showers galore and time together. But truth be told, we're both very ready for June 24 to come! I am ready to be Mrs. Young and we are ready to head to Cancun for the honeymoon. So this is all an exercise in patience now.

About a week ago a new roommate moved into my apartment. All of my roommates had moved out at the beginning of May so I had about 2 weeks where I lived solo. Andrew had moved a lot of his things into my place for storage and I was pretty well spread out. While no one enjoys living alone, I'd gotten used to it. And then one day this new little roommate moved in. She has created quite the ruckus but I think it will be ok. I get to move into Andrew and I's apartment on June 4...so I can last until then.

Anyway, I continue to work at WiLife as the Marketing Specialist. Just plugging along making a living wage so that I can support Andrew and I until he finishes school. But let it be known...the moment Andrew graduates...I will no longer work! (well I'll probably still work but not here and not in Utah!! :))

June 24th is the Big Day!! :)

Well folks, the rumors are true! On Valentine's Day this year Andrew took me to Salt Lake City to Temple Square and popped the big question. He had his roommate place a present strategically on a pedestal outside and had it waiting there for me when we got to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. I opened up my valentine's gift--a scrapbook. I thumbed through the pages, only to find a few pages had been scrapbooked. To my surprise! :-o The page said "Will you marry me?" I was shocked! On the opposite page was a note Andrew had written expressing his apprecitation and love for me...so cute. He got down on one knee and told me how much he loved me as he pulled out the ring we selected six long months ago! He asked me if I'd be his and of course, I said YES! He said I took a little long to respond, not that I meant to, but it's not bad to make the guy a little nervous, right?? :)

Anyway, we've selected June 24 as our wedding date. We will be sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple at 2pm. If things go as planned a reception will follow at 6:30pm at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building on Temple Square--where he proposed! :)

I'm so excited and making plans has been so fun. We are looking at an apartment tonight and we registered at Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond on Saturday...I guess this is for real!

I love Andrew soooo much! :)

Far Too Long!

It's been far too long since I posted an update and while I don't have any exciting or earth-shattering news to post, I still thought it would be nice to say a little something to my one loyal blog reader (that's you Cait! :) ).

Anyway, I have been keeping busy at work and am still working feverishly hard to build awareness for my little-known start-up company. I mean seriously, I love the product and love the people I work with. But it's funny because the product is finally ready to roll out and be sold so everyone suddenly thinks that everyone should already know we exist. I might mention that the product has been in development for 3 years. While it's difficult to do marketing without a product, it'd be nice to have some foundation laid already. But I guess it gives me a way to start from the ground up and really make things happen. It'll be a great experience and I do enjoy the challenge of it all. I'll have to fight off the individuals who don't quite think it should take so long until I can prove my efforts through results.

I have had some success. In fact if you go to www.amazon.com and type in "video surveillance" into the search box, you might just find the LukWerks Starter Kit - Digital Video Surveillance Camera System. :) But it changes all the time and could be better or worse when you look at it. But you should give it a shot! :)

Anyway, life is going well. I am now able to start paying for my bills and I'll be eligible for medical and dental on February 1st. I'm all grown up now and my mom is even making me pay for every little thing on my own (including my vitamins....).

Things are going terrific with Andrew. He continues to be a sweetheart and do wonderful things for me. He puts up with my moodiness that happens on occasion and I put up with his ardent passion for any televised sports. :) No big plans yet other than simply enjoying each other. We've officially been dating for 7 months today!! Unbelieveable! I love him so much though and I'm glad he wouldn't give up on me. :) :)

WiLife it is...

Yea! It has been far too long since I posted something here but I am happy to announce that I did end up getting the job with WiLife (the makers of LukWerks digital video surveillance cameras...www.lukwerks.com) in Draper!! I couldn't be happier about it and I took the job immediately. I was offered the job on Wednesday, December 14, exactly one week after I had interviewed. I started the very next day on Thursday, December 15. It's interesting because I was supposed to be flying in on December 15 from Brussels...had I stayed there I would not be working for WiLife today!

I am the Marketing Specialist and until the Marketing Director comes onboard in January, I am the Marketing Department for WiLife. All sorts of people call me and try to set up appointments to pitch their advertising schemes to me. I have to make all sorts of decisions about print materials, who to have print, what to print, etc. It's so exciting to be involved with our graphic designers and to be able to tell them whether or not what they have done works for our image. Right now I am focusing on getting our product advertised on Google and Yahoo! and getting listed and selling on Amazon.com. It is a lot of work but a lot of fun.

I finally live in my own place and not with the Bourgeois' anymore! I know they were just being nice because after two and a half weeks house guests are too much!! But I am so grateful for their hospitality.

I am home for Christmas (well almost, I am in Vancouver at Amber and Brandie's) and I am glad to have somewhat of a break from work but it's impossible for me to just let it drop to the wayside...too attached to it I guess.

Andrew is in Atlanta for Christmas and I miss him sooooo much. He'll be back "soon enough" though, as he would say...

Possibilities on the Horizon...

I don't want to say that I have found a job but there is a very good possibility that I have. And so while I am trying to hold back on my excitement, I can't help but post the good news here. The company is in Draper, Utah which is about a 30 minute drive from Provo, where I live. The company is called WiLife and currently they are brand new. They are launching their first product Monday and beginning January 1st the product will be available nationwide in stores like BestBuy, Circuit City, Frys, and other great electronic stores. So what is the product you say? It's home digital video surveillance cameras. The intention is to provide affordable home security that is the latest, cutting edge technology. The company has been in existence for 2 years with engineers developing prototypes and such...They forsee great company growth. Currently the have 12 employees and project have 100 employees by the end of 2007. I think it would be really exciting to be a part of a growing company with great potential. I'd be doing eMarketing for them initially and possibly as I grow with the company, get promoted! :)

Well anyway, I had my first interview with the company on Wednesday. The guy seemed really positive and said he'd have me come in on Monday and spend a few hours in the office. Then he gave me a call and true to his word invited me in to the office. He said that if all goes well then an offer will probably be extended to me that day. I am really excited about the potential and possibility of working with this company. I don't know anything about compensation or benefits but think it will be positive.

Chillin' with the Bourgeois

I just have to make public the fact that Danielle and Jared Bourgeois have to be the nicest people on the planet. I mean seriously, they totally let me take over their apartment and they have never been rude to me even once. They are such examples to me of kindness and charity and I will never be able to express to them how much I truly appreciate their kindness.

Update on the job situation...well I've had interviews with two companies so far. One second interview and another interview with a third company on Wednesday. I am trying so hard and really feel that one of these jobs will work out. I'm sure of it! :) In the meantime, I went ahead and purchased a plane ticket home for Christmas. I figured if Andrew has a plane ticket to Seattle, it doesn't make much sense to let him go by himself! Now does it? Plus I really didn't want to stay here in Provo over the holidays without a solid prospect for employment...

Well the news is in on my car (see the owie at left). $2,200 to repair without insurance help. Ouch. I mean, the poor girl is barely worth that. So I have had to make a rough decision but it's time to put her down. I am going to meet with a nice man who buys vehicles at auto auctions (he'll possibly trade my vehicle out) and hopefully look at a 2001 Toyota Corolla for a steal of a deal. We'll see how it works out since I am not technically in a position to purchase a car! Ha!
